Only a few of the Kings of Judah faithfully served God. He blessed the Kings who did so, but this lesson did not reach the Kings to follow. In God’s word we find the prophecy that the nation of Israel would be in exile for 70 years. It is amazing to read how God used pagan ruler such as the Kings of Egypt, Babylon and Persia to do his bidding. In the case of Egypt and Persia the Kings even told everybody they were speaking for the God of Israel, even though they served false Gods. This just proves that God is in control.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help me to never forget that you truly are in control. Help me to serve you each and every day of my life. Help me to see the lessons and warnings you place in my path each and every day to help me in my life journey as a Christ-follower. I love you Lord Jesus. Amen.

We see how King Hezekiah lived his life for God. He did great things and served the Lord faithfully. However, he failed in one major area of his life. This is the same area many of us fail in each and every day. This area is family leadership. We are Biblically called to raise our children up in the way they should go. One of our main jobs in life is to teach our children right from wrong and lead them to make right decisions. Even the greatest King has failed in a substantial way if they have not done this. Each of us can learn from the lesson of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As a father of two wonderful girls you have put under my care, I ask for you necessary help. Never let me forget my priority of raising them to follow, love and fear you. Help me to be a good example of a Godly person. I thank you for putting good examples in my life. I love you Lord. Amen.

All to often those of us who are Christ-followers forget we need to spend time just celebrating God. God is the source of all of our job, happiness, fulfillment and abilities. It is important we pray to him, worship him, love him, be with him in meditation, but we cannot forget to celebrate him. The ancient Jews held numerous festivals celebrating times God moved greatly in their midst. They celebrated when he saved them from their enemies. We need to start doing this in our lives as Christ-followers, both corporately and individually. Every church should something to celebrate (Maybe their founding). Every person should have something to celebrate (Maybe when they became a Christ-follower).

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help me to remember and celebrate the moments in my life you intervened in amazing ways. Help me to be part of a body of Christ-followers who celebrate what you have done and are doing in our midst. Thank you for continuously doing things in my life and the life of Community Christian Church. I love you. Amen.

It seems all to often we fail to end strong. We get near the end of the race of life and we think our past accomplishments will carry us through. This is a dangerous way to think in our work life, home life, and our spiritual life. Amaziah became King of Judah and obey God at first. However, over the years he began to worship false gods and idols. He did not learn from the mistakes of those who came before him. It seems like he felt he could get away with it because he had listened to the Lord early on.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help me to look to you each and every day for guidance and direction. Help me to not rest on past service to you, my family or this world. Help my love for you to continue all throughout my life and beyond. Thank you for loving me so much. Amen.
